Former International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM) executive Robert Moffat persuaded a federal judge to allow him to begin serving his prison sentence 8 months earlier than scheduled in order to allow him to go to his son’s college graduation next year. Moffat was sentenced to six months in prison due to his role in an insider trading scheme. Moffat has confessed to leaking confidential information to a former hedge fund consultant affiliated with New Castle Funds. This same consultant is also involved in the insider trader case surrounding Raj Rajar-at-nam and his Galleon hedge fund.
